Yeah there's always gonna be some people who use a systems language for frontend or frontend for backend and let's not get ahead of ourselves there are multiple purpose languages like C#, Python and even Java, they're not the talking points here, we're talking about languages like Rust, Go or other languages that's designed for specific purposes but people always try to twist the tool and use it for other appliances.
You can pretty much apply this to any popular modern language and its true. How a language was original conceived and how it is even marketed has very little to do with the entire set that is applicable to. it's design and goals always dictated that and it's going that way with Kotlin native. It was inevitable for Kotlin to break away from JVM. Kotlin was never just another JVM language. Kotlin came from Java's shortcomings and lack of features. I can make the same argument even with Kotlin. Kotlin was first released that it would "always be a JVM language", Call me when you could design a kernel with JS or program my AC Unit with it then I say it's not a frontend language. Yeah I know with Electron you can create desktop applications but let's be real with ourselves Electron app memory footprint is heavier than the fake boobs of a motel hooker.
Yeah it's used for the backend with node.js, but that's a runtime, with a different compiler, hell one could argue it's a different language with a different platform. But JavaScript IS a frontend language, it was designed for it. I know you mentioned JS as an example to my argument.
